Highlights of Achievements of our NSS Unit

The NSS Unit of KLE College of Pharmacy, Bangalore, has undertaken several innovative activities in the region apart from the routine regular activities. These are of unique nature and mainly in the field of Health Awareness.

In view of alarming trend of global warming, several Tree plantation programs are undertaken to preserve our environment. We have created a Medicinal plant garden “Dhanvantri” in the college premises. Most of the NSS activities involve creating health awareness to the community. Self medication rallies, Anti drug Abuse campaigns, No Tobacco rallies, Health and Hygiene Camps, Nutrition counseling, Activities and guest lectures on life style modifications, benefits of Physical training and Yoga from younger age, Pulse Polio Immunization Programs, Blood Donation Camps, Vitamin A drop instillation and other Awareness programs are some of the main programs stressed upon in the community.

NSS Volunteers are well motivated by our Programme Officer Dr.Mamatha.A, who works as a Community investigator, as a programme aide, community organizer, developer of personality of NSS Volunteers through community service and is round the clock ready to serve the nation. Library is opened in village school with an intention of inculcating reading habits from childhood itself.

Every year people in the village are campaigned about Protecting Animals during our Annual Special Camps. Regular Village Survey is done to note the problem of that community and is informed to higher officials to provide the required solution.

Primary school of the village is identified and support is given by motivating the students to continue their higher education. It is also followed up as to whether the school children continue their higher education.

Eye check up for the village people in association with Agarwal Eye Hospital, Bengaluru and Haemoglobin estimation for the women of Vadhkunte village by our own volunteers has been of prime importance to the people.

Nutritional level in children of the village also is successively assessed every year by assessing the height, weight and physical growth of the students. Malnutrition if observed, is immediately taken into consideration and referred to the primary centre for further action and various tips on life style modification is given to them.

Further programs for diabetes control involve life style modification, procedure for self injecting insulin, basic food control and exercise required to control the high blood sugar level is given importance.

We from NSS Unit of KLEUCOP, Bengaluru believe that welfare of an individual is dependent on welfare of the society as a whole, as it helps in democratic living and upholds the need of selfless service and appreciation.
