Pharmacology

Department Of Pharmacology

  • Vision : To groom technically competent and morally responsible pharmacists. 
  • Mission : To impart quality education in Pharmacology and empower students in meeting the challenges of the profession.

The Department of Pharmacology was established in 1983 for undergraduate studies. Later, in 1992, the Department incorporated postgraduate courses as well. For its collaborative research programmes involving the studies related to screening of drugs / herbal extracts for anti-diabetic activity, cardiovascular activity, mutagenicity, anxiolytic, sedative, nootropic activities, the Department is tied up with the following pharmaceutical companies:

  • Natural Remedies
  • Himalaya Drug Company
  • Sami Labs Ltd.
  • Juggat Pharma
  • Biocon India Ltd.

Furthermore, the Department's staff members are actively involved as research coordinators in executing projects for industries like Biocon India Ltd., Karnataka Chemsyn Ltd., Stempeutics Research Pvt. Ltd., etc. Major areas of research at the Department are related to diabetes mellitus, hyperlipidemia, cardiovascular system, psychopharmacology, drug delivery system and genotoxicity studies. A well equipped CPCSEA certified animal house is maintained by the Department The Department of Pharmacology is equipped with state-of-the-art equipments.
